2016 Youth of the Year Winner
If one word could describe Kendra Jackson it would be Noble; for exalting moral character, effortless displays of dignity and her limitless manner of positive expressions. Kendra first joined the club last summer as an intern through our PG&E Summer Jobs Program, from then on she has become Keystone President planning and leading various community outreaches and on campus activities, which has been proven a success through increased member and guest participation at our North Natomas Site at Inderkum High School. Another accomplishment that Kendra has been recognized for was being chosen as this year’s club Youth of the Year for Greater Sacramento and more recently being honored by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, INC. for ‘Outstanding Academics and Leadership accomplishments as an African American’, but most exciting of all, Kendra was accepted to Sacramento State University beginning Fall 2016’!
Kendra embodies all five of our club core focus areas of development through her consistent involvement in programing, providing mentorship to peer members, being a voice on many challenges teens are facing today, exploring her love of art and photography through her position as Historian for the National Arts Honor Society, and her passion to encourage kids to be more active by providing a selection of outdoor activities as exhibited through her internship and goals of pursuing a career with the Boys and Girls Club. When you think of our mission “To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” She is living proof that Great Futures do indeed start here!
