High School Community Service

Volunteer opportunities will resume as safety restrictions allow. Thank you!

Make connections at the Club through community service

High school students find out in 9th grade that community service isn't just the right thing to do, it's also an important component of college applications. Additionally, many of our region's high schools require community service hours for graduation. Community service, however, needs to be more than just a checkbox item for a college application or high school graduation. Students should find an organization or issue that they can be passionate about throughout high school- that rewards them as much as the organization they are supporting. With that in mind, BGCSAC accepts high school volunteers on a case by case basis. We require that high school volunteers have a referral or letter of recommendation from their school or sponsoring organization (for example, Boy Scouts or church youth group). All high school volunteers will go through a rigorous clearance process, including a Live Scan background check and TB test. This clearance costs approximately $60 and is at the volunteer's expense.

We also encourage high school students to join The Club! We offer teen programs at our Teichert Branch and a full-service teen center at our downtown Raley Branch. Both locations have active "Keystone Clubs." Keystone Clubs provide leadership development opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18. Youth participate in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation, and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Clubs aim to have a positive impact on members, the Club, and community.

If you are a high school student interested in learning more about The Club's volunteer opportunities contact us at (916) 392-1350 or via email at volunteer@bgcsac.org

  • All high school volunteers must submit a volunteer application in addition to referral/letter of recommendation from their high school or sponsoring community organization. Submitting the application does not guarantee a placement. Volunteer applications are reviewed on a case by case basis.
